You can also use a clear furniture varnish when the wood starts to lose its shine. Do not forget to protect your surfaces from undercuts, candlesticks or any decorative object that could cause permanent halos and scratches on the varnished surface. If you spill liquid, such as water, on your furniture, wipe it off immediately to prevent the wood from soaking.
